HoD, Department of Actuarial Science & Insurance
With the highest level of elation, I welcome you to the Department of Actuarial Science and Insurance, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Our main objective as a department is to produce intellectually sound Actuarial Science/Insurance graduates that can meet the changing needs of the Nigerian financial industry. The Department was created in 31st May 2018, to offer a 4-year bachelor degree programme in both Actuarial Science and Insurance. Though the department was newly created, the Actuarial Science Degree Programme has been around since 1975 as an area of specialization in the old Department of Business Administration. On the Insurance degree, the programme has begun since 2013/2014 academic session and the first in Northern part of the country. The two programmes have produced hundreds of graduates that currently work in insurance, pension and other related industries. The department prides itself with a team of very dedicated academics who place high premium on teaching and research. To achieve professional excellence, we have a history of cordial relation with our students. We wish you a happy stay in the department.
